This memory refers to the project of a House located in Al Qassar, Doha-Qatar, with an area of about 20000m2 , has the shape of two symmetrical L´s , one over the other. The house has two floors. On the first floor, develops recreational areas as gymnasium, theaters, lounges, and some secondary room’s. Also at this level are the kitchen, garage and the main technical areas where are all machines, pumps and needed tanks to feed all the existing infrastructure. At the first floor level, are the main rooms. dining rooms, and some indoors gardens.The exterior of the house is composed by two swimming pools and a huge lake, that surrounds all the interior area of the two L´s and surrounds called majis, located in the center of the two volumes.
The highlight of the house elevations that show the variable height of ceilings as we move along through the house…They begin at approximately 9.50 meters and “die” to zero, as it was perfect triangles. Given its particular location and architectural requirements, this project meant that became essential quick and innovative solutions from the technical and execution point of view. An example is the large glass facades which involved a comprehensive study of the frames as well as efficiency and energy management Also the contact with external standards and regulations, allowed the comparison with other solutions, and thus has contributed to the development of new concepts and different methods of work.
The villa is part of a lot of four fronts. The east side, is surrounded by sea, to the west and north by paved roads and on the south side is an undeveloped area. In terms of topography, the side is in general plan and mainly composed of sand and silty limestone with gravel and fragment s of shells Regarding to weather conditions, we find an average temperature of 49º C in the summer and 12º C in the winter. The average humidity is 62%. It´s not placed on a seismic zone and the wind velocity calculation is 130Km/h. Structurally was chosen a generally a portico solution (porticos with a 12.5m span) The porticos are placed on the ground floor in 5/7, 5 meters alternately, on the first floor the distance shall be 12, 5 meters.
Across the portics, and the data spans of 12.50 meters, we chose a solution of metal trusses for the roof beams, using the same type of metal sections in the profiles of the soul thus optimizing its production and execution. To ensure the proper locking and rigidity of the assembly were also proposed a number of reinforced concrete walls of 20cm thick. As for the Horizontal Structure elements for the first floor slabs have been proposed average thickness of 25cm, in landscape areas, either internally or externally, the thickness increased to 35cm, in the cover was chosen a solution based on unidirectional mixed beams.In the foundations, given the ground characteristics present in the geotechnical report, was adopted solutions of the indirect type (piles) fought at the ground floor by a 45cm thick slab.
