This project aims the valorization of the site while creating public spaces for leisure. The work consists of exterior arrangements of the level that corresponded to the playing fields of the old school Beirão Veiga and Carmo terraces, space over the Carmo walls. Where stood down old buildings of the GNR. For these spaces, with different altitudes it was necessary to create links to allow continuous paths, whose works involved the use of special works. The constraints on the work site are many and the intervention contemplates consolidation works, temporary and permanent containment, and is predicted a wide monitoring program of the church and the surrounding while during the intervention.
The set Carmo Church/Covent has an extensive history of interventions, from the construction itself, which lasted 26 years, with several changes due to the instability of the lands being the basis of a strong head of the church basement. For this scenario contributes that was built upon a very rough ground.
The Church collapsed in the earthquake of 1755, the city was rearranged and in order to contain the land between Church and the Carmo Street was built the Carmo Wall.
