Graça Correia e Roberto Ragazzi, Gerês, Portugal, 2004
The holiday house in Gerês is designed by Graça Correia and Roberto Ragazzi. It results of the rebuilding and enlarging of a ruin in a place of extraordinary morphological characteristics, limited by the Cavado river and a flowing stream.
The whole building is supported by the inferior slab. The building stability is ensured by laminar elements, walls and slabs, in concrete with which we get the structural behavior. A precise structural analysis was calculated to control the deformations because a significant part of the building was suspended. The suspended part is constituted by three beams with variable height.
